City Scripts

Caution, vacuum While walking through the city, my attention catches on an excavation. In my text, this absence becomes a force that draws in footsteps and thoughts. A written panel placed in a gap between paving stones brings the observation into the street.
The work was developed in Sophie Erlund’s course “City Scripts: walking like an artist” at TU Munich. Reading, writing and walking became the starting points for a spatial intervention.
At school we were told: mass attracts mass. The universe obeys, apples fall, everything adds up. Only the city does not. The city draws you in with what is missing. Perhaps because everything built is an answer, and a hole is a question. Questions pull harder.
